20 months
In true Caroline fashion she has started walking! She took her first steps less than 2 hours after her first physical therapy appointment. She started with little baby steps and is now EVERYWHERE! I find myself secretly wishing for the days of immobility back. She is such a cute little walker. She puts so much thought and concentration into. This is partially the reason she walked so late.
The physical therapist that Caroline was delayed in walking because from what she could see(the therapist) that Caroline was trying to perfect all of the walking foundation steps that most children stumble around and figure out. Not Caroline she was going to make sure that she did them right and didn't fall. Caroline is now walking everywhere and climbing onto everything. She is still seeing the physical therapist. I'm not very concerned about her walking anymore, but I figure the physical therapy won't hurt anything. Caroline's speech is picking right up too. At first I had asked the First Steps people to evaluate her speech. It turns out that she is right on track for her speech. I thought maybe she was a little delayed compared to Grace at the same age. The speech pathologist said that Caroline is a socially-introverted child. I translate to- Caroline will say something when she finds it to be important and will talk to you when she deems it necessary. Can we say "strong-willed?" I bet she gets it from her dad :). Her new favorite words are, "push"(when she is on the swing), "lala" for Cinderella, "Emma" (the neighbor girl who comes over to play) "up above"(when she wants to sing Twinkle, Twinkle) and "moo" (when she wants you to read Goodnight Moon to her."
She is growing like a weed and keeps us smiling every day!
